Former BP Engineer Sentenced for Deleting Spill Size Related Texts

An ex-BP engineer, Kurt Mix has been sentenced for deleting the text messages of how much oil discharged into the Gulf in 2010 spill. He has been sentenced to 6 months of probation. He has been fighting the obstruction charge for over three years. He was a part of the BP team that was trying to prevent the underwater gusher of oil. The prosecutors stated that following the spill, he deleted the text messages that he and the contractor exchanged during the spill. The judge agreed to the probation as it was recommended by the prosecution. However, Mix has stated that he is glad that the ordeal had ended.
